do you know where your christmas tree comes from?

first of all, YES i do ;-)

when i met Christoph last summer and heard that he's a professional christmas tree planter that really pricked my ears. quite interesting to hear how many hours he spends with his trees and how much care they need over the year. i really liked the setting of his plantation where he guided me to and already had in mind to shoot a portrait of him...but in winter when all the trees are covered with snow.
i was pretty busy this week...but "if not now...then when?"....conditions were great so i crawled with my Freelander up the mountain and exposed six LF-frames.
these kind of photographs are not really made for net-viewing...it's a total different experience standing infront of a big LF-print that brings you much closer to the mood of this chilly morning in dezember...

Large Format for sure is not made for net-viewing. Alle fine details and with it all depth are lost. What remains is an impression of him accompanied by your words which makes it a story to me. I´m convinced he and his all year work was worth a conceptional series to show more of him, his "Stiehl" (it´s a Stiehl, isn´t it?) and all the things that belong to his doing in order to provide people with christmas trees and warming wood for their ovens.

Wish we had as much snow as you! Right now it´s not more than 2cm over here but I hope for more till new year´s day. I would love to fix a "Glühweinbar" out of snow, you know?
Smile

hi Michael,

well then i have to phone Petrus and order heavy snow for Bayern...this Gühweinbar is a must...

he uses a STIHL (www.stihl.de)...state-of-the-art if you want to get rid of a tree... Wink

I know Stihl saws, Stefan. I cannot afford one (or lets rather say I don´t WANT to afford a Stihl for my kind of sawing business in my garden) and apparently I don´t know how to type them, either Smile

Snow has been ordered already. You know, I´ve got connections.

Did you have this printed Stefan?

Must be great, all that detail...

Best, Edward

@Edward:

...this is an ordinary scan with my table scanner (Epson V750pro)...for Netviewing o.k. but for real prints i would give it away to be scanned with a heidelberg drumscanner.

A professional Christmas tree planter... what an amazing way of doing its business Smile Due to the heavy amount of snow "my" Christmas tree planter told me he was not able to cut all the trees.

The photo is just great. Must be impressive as an LP.
